I've Seen It All Now...

Drove over ten hours with my son to visit my parents in Eastern Tennessee. I'm exhausted and going to bed, but I have to report that I have now seen everything. My mother and my son are up watching Letterman together.

Maybe there's hope for this world.

Why would this be unusual?

I've watched Letterman since I was 21. It was funny that I was heading to bed, and my 12 year old son and 64 year old mother stayed up to watch Letterman.

Letterman - the denture glue between, never mind, haha, I like Letterman. But now I prefer Conan.

I was just reminiscing with an old friend-- I remember watching the first episode of Conan's show with her-- we remember how awful we felt-- how horrendous the show was.

Fortunately yes, it has drastically improved.

About 10 years or so, not long after he took over the show, I ran into my old drinking buddy Tommy Blacha out celebrating with his girlfriend. He told me he was moving to New York to take a job on the O'Brien show. I blanched-- I asked "Isn't that sort of like finding out that you just got the job as First Mate on the Titanic?"

It asked how he got the job, and he asked if I remembered that fat little guy Andy that he was always drinking with when I ran into him. I did-- it turned out that was Andy Richter.

I imagine Tommy was a big part of the show improving-- he's one of the most hysterically funny guys I've ever met.

He's since left the show for other ventures.
