The Tennessee Ten

Tennessee is one of those Good News/Bad News things. Good things: spending time with my folks; waking up and seeing the Smokey Mountains out the bedroom window (their house is actually in the foothills of the Smokeys). The bad thing is being around some pretty regressive people (not all the people here, though!) and being so far from home.

Here's the Tennessee Ten:

1. Heroin- The Velvet Underground
2. You Are So Beautiful- Joe Cocker
3. In the Jailhouse Now- Johnny Cash
4. Mustang Sally- Wilson Pickett
5. She Sells Sanctuary- The Cult
6. I Want You Back- Graham Parker
7. Safe European Home- The Clash
8. Yeah Baby- The Fondas
9. I Ain’t Got No Home In This World Anymore- Woody Guthrie
10. Highway 40 Blues- Ricky Skaggs

The Graham Parker song is a cover of the Jackson 5 song by the same name.

Tennessee. The only thing I know is that it produces fine random ten lists! I'll have to look up the Graham Parker song and the Ricky Skaggs but otherwise I think I've got it covered!

Excellent ten. How can I convince you to share your copy of the Graham Parker cover? I'll trade something .....

That's a pretty sweet list. I can almost see the Smokey mountains in those words. And in an example of a desperate seque, will we get to see a picture of the Smokeys yet?

Dale- It also produces fine racehorses, finer music and even finer bourbon.

The Graham Parker may be hard to find-- it's a live song that I think went out to radio stations. If your email can handle it, I'll send it. -- it's only about 3 megs.

Beth-- as far as trading, no need to-- but... I have heard rumors of a live version of Moon River by REM floating around. That song's a sentimental favorite-- it was the #1 hit when I was born. Were you to have that...

Barbara- Your wish is granted! I wanted to post pics, but couldn't from my parents' computer for some reason.
