I am the daughter of Floyd Wilde, who was arrested with Dick and worked with him. Also the year I was born 2 years after Summerdale they were arrested again together. They had matching Cadillac convertibles from what I understand, that Cadillac is a huge part of my memory growing up. Would live to know more of the story, please contact me if you would like to, thank you again. Dick could have "BOUGHT & SOLD" 20 Farraci's. He "took in" a hell of a lot more than $100,000 probably more like $10,000 to $20,000 a month would be more like it. He was "paying off" Over a hundred cops weekly. Although only 8 were caught, there were probably 100 to 150 that should have been caught.
The reason the Evanston cops tried to kill him was because they wanted a bigger cut & because the didn't get it wanted to silence him. The whole story stinks, it's only part true and some of the facts are wrong.
As far as "10 burglaries over 9 months" that's baloney, Dick did as many as 4 or 5 a night, every night including holidays."Dectectives Jim McGuire, Howard Rothgery, Pat Driscoll and James Heard" were some of the crooked cops. "PATTY DRISCOLL" was my dad's partner,These cops were from "Town Hall Station" my dad died in 1950. The 8 were convicted but only one spent any time in jail, and then only 6 months. The others all outlasted their appeals.
DICK MORRISON was not the bad guy everyone imagines. If the cops had not kept him working so he could pay them off, he would have stopped a long time before.
WESLEY'S was the pizza place but they had the best Lobster, Steak, french fries and barbeque beef, and other foods and great pizza. We, Dick included used to deliver for "SID" the owner. We had regular deliveries to HUGH HEFFNER when he first started Playboy and lived at the EDGEWATER BEACH HOTEL. It would take the entire night to correct all the errors in this story.
Of the 8 "defendants", We, Dick & I went to SENN HIGH SCHOOL with the Karras', Sol & Alex. The atmosphere was not as the story portrays, we would sit at the DONDI LOUNGE with sometimes 10 to 20 cops, some off duty and some working and drink beer. We were one big happy family before they "HUNG HIM OUT".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33543511.post-36817320298643582482008-08-01T14:24:00.000-05:002008-08-01T14:24:00.000-05:00Bubs-Actually that building is being used-- I was ...Bubs-
Actually that building is being used-- I was there yesterday getting a new city sticker-- it's a city clerk's office now.Johnny Yenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06561248220244037567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33543511.post-54023492403256053152008-08-01T09:59:00.000-05:002008-08-01T09:59:00.000-05:00I'm glad they've saved the building.
