Only In Chicago

This picture was taken today. Yes, those are huge piles of snow.

Okay, I lie. It's actually from the ice rink at McFetridge Park, a few blocks from my home. It has an indoor ice rink, which they close in August every year for a big clean-up. Those are piles of ice from the rink.

  1. I first figured it was from a cocaine bust.

  2. I thought it was from your big storm! How did you make out? Everything OK?

  3. Yikes. I was expecting this to be about some apocalyptic storm you'd just had..

  4. I'd love some of that snow pile scene in my back yard right about now . . .

  5. Dmarks-
That wouldn't be uncommon in Chicago, but unfortunately now only in Chicago.

    Skyler's Dad-
To my relief, no flooding this time-- the investment my landlord made last year into improved drainage was worth it. There is power out all over still-- I just tried to take my stepdaughter and her friend over to the library and power was out there.

    Mob-
We had that apocalyptic storm last night-- tornado sirens going off and torrents of rain.

    Erik-
We've got that heat today! If I came upon those piles today, I'd jump in.

  7. Ha, I was onto you from the start. I'm very familiar with those piles of ice.

  8. That's the only way we would ever have a pile of snow that size here.
