Chicago in February

It's a toasty zero degrees here in Chicago. 24 below wind chill.

The only thing that gives me hope is pitchers and catchers report in 9 days, 23 hours, 25 minutes and 19 seconds for spring training...not that I'm counting or anything. (Look in the upper left of the link-- "Countdown to Spring Training 2007)

  1. Funny, I'm flying to Chicago for a quick weekend trip on Friday. The friend I'm going to see just emailed me and asked me what I'm thinking, sharing a similar weather report.

I'm in Arizona. Today's forcast: Plenty of sunshine. High 76F. Winds light and variable.
(See my post in July, tho!) :)

    Bundle up!

  2. It's cold over in Detroit as well -- so cold today that the day schools are shut. Hooray! On the other hand, I keep having to jumpstart my car. . . . .

    Dress warm!

You must have a pretty good reason to be leaving that for this!

    Erik-
A lot of the parochial schools are closed here. We're housed in a former parochial school, but we're technically part of the Chicago school system. They had school today.

Usually the jumpstart thing means it's time for a new battery. If it's over about 5 years old, it's a good bet. I just put a new one in my wife's car last week. She was blogging about it:

  4. Almost all of the suburban schools were closed too. We had a decent turnout, and we let the kids wear hoodies and coats in class if they were cold. My classroom was on the cool side, but I just taught in the computer lab and it was liek an oven. This buiding is either cold or hot, there is no real way to regulate the temperature.
