Yesterday evening, I was chatting with my friend and co-worker Karol, who is as big a Cubs fan as I am. She was telling stories about the Cubs Conventions she'd been to; every January, there is a Cubs Convention here in Chicago where you can meet and chat with current and past Cubs players.
She told me about a fan "question and answer" session at a Cubs Convention a few years back with ace Cubs reliever Lee Smith, who was one of the great firemen in the history of baseball. One of the fans asked Smith if he had ever tested positive for steroids. He replied that he hadn't but he'd be in trouble if they were testing for Tanqueray.

Ah, Lee Smith. Now there's a name I remember from the days when I loved baseball.
... or if they had been putting steroids in Tanqueray.
Reminds me of the t-shirts popular back when steroids first started coming out in baseball, "Ruth did it on Hotdogs".
Boo ya, thanks everyone. Lee Smith is here all week. Don't forget to try the veal and to tip your wait staff.
Good one ;->
That's funny. One of my daughters is a Cubs fan and the other loves the Cards. I remember back when my Cubs fan was giving my other daughter a hard time about Mcgwire's steroid use, and then my Crads fan shot right back about Sosa's corked bat. I suppose there's always something...
Churlita-
And of course it turns out that Sosa was doing steroids too.
BTW, my son, who used to idolize Sosa, started calling him "Old Corky" after that.
Where I went to school, Eastern Illinois University, there were a lot of Cardinal fans-- it was geographically almost dead center in the middle of Chicago. Made for some heated rivalries.
