This has been the longest, toughest winter in some time here in Chicago. It seemed like it would never end.
Saturday night, I came home from work and discovered this flower blooming in the front yard. I was so excited about it that I ran into the house, grabbed my camera and snapped a picture.
The real proof of spring's arrival, though, is the beginning of my son's little league practice. Play ball!

Be honest, you were really trying to get a picture of the girl behind Adam, weren't you?
Winter is ending and we are about to enter our other season...That being Road Construction.
The first daffodil hasn't broken through yet, and already the Cub are just about eliminated from Playoff Contention. That's the Chicago Way......
Do I see Wells Park?
Good to see those signs of spring - flowers, ball players, girls in shorts.
We are supposed to have 4 days of snow starting tomorrow. Oh joy.
SD-
Actually, there were about two dozen teenaged girls in shorts back and to the right. I took the photo from an angle that excluded most of them.
It showed my son's dedication to baseball, the fact that he was looking to see where the ball was being hit from. If it were me at 14, I would have been looking at the girls playing soccer.
Elk-
Ah, yes-- winter and road repair, the two seasons in Chicago.
Behave yourself or I'll post about your 23rd birthday-- the day we got thrown out of the Gingerman after a Cubs game.
Bubs-
You do indeed see it, with the Sulzer Library in the background.
Barbara-
That's the reason that, as much as I love Canada (I've posted about my trip to Canada with the Elk) I won't be retiring there.
Yay spring!
This is the time of year I need to brag... It is getting a little hotter, though, and in a few weeks I'll be whining about the heat!
Our baseball season is in full swing. Thing 3 has an OUTSTANDING coach this year! He has learned a great deal.
I can not believe how much Adam had grown!! Holy smokes!
I am so happy to see that flower. I have seen sprouts in my area but no blossoms yet.
Hi JY
Any earthquake damage?
Looking forward to another play-by-play season of Adam's games. I hope he has better luck than my hockey team.
