A Favorite View
A couple of weeks ago, I had to run downtown to the main branch of the Chicago Public Library, the Harold Washington Branch, to get a copy of a book for the project/presentation my lab partners in my Biology class and I were working on. While waiting for the Brown Line train at the Adams/Wabash station, I turned to see one of my favorite views of Chicago-- the view of the Art Institute from that particular train stop. I didn't have my Canon digital camera with me at that moment (though I do frequently carry it), but I did have my new cell phone, my first one with a camera. It's not high resolution, but it captured a nice moment in an otherwise hectic day quite nicely.

I like that shot. I remember 25 years ago when I used to work in the loop and go to the Art Institute once a week at lunchtime to hang out.
I love going to the Art Institute, and particularly enjoy hanging out in the Atrium that is filled with statues.
I'm planning a trip to AI with my sis on the 27th. Do you know if Seurat's painting will be there? It's not on tour is it? I love to stare at that thing every time I visit.
Yes, it was up last time I was there-- it's part of their permanant collection, and one of their most popular pieces.
It seems like you're really really tall from the perspective of the shot Mr. Yen.
It does, doesn't it? It was taken from the el platform, about thirty feet or so in the air. The elevated train goes in a loop through the downtown of Chicago, which everyone calls "The Loop." It was actually nicknamed the Loop before the elevated trains were built in the late 1800's-- originally, horse-drawn railcars ran through the downtown in a loop through the downtown, giving it its nickname.
