I should really hate the Gallagher Brothers from Oasis. They're the prototypical arrogant, petulant spoiled British rock stars, regularly comparing themselves to the Beatles. Somehow, then, it really bugs me that I like Oasis' new single, Lord, Don't Slow Me Down. But to paraphrase Group Captain Lionel Mandrake in Dr. Strangelove, "the trouble is they make such bloody good records."

Personally I am not all that fond of the Gallaghers' music, but my god they are funny! I'd go drinking with them any day.
yeah, that's retro-kewel. . .
just as the Japanese were so bloody good at . . . torture?
I know what you're saying about Oasis. But honestly, those first couple records of theirs are tough to beat. New song sounds fun, too.
Huh. and here I thought Oasis was a porno actress. My personal jury is out on the song, tho.
Don't get too twisted up about this. They're bound to implode (again).
I have no problem hating them. They're dicks. I like a song here and there, but they all kind of sound the same.
Never heard of them, but I have heard of Group Captain Lionel Mandrake!
Pretty good. Surprisingly good, in fact. But not "I Am the Walrus" good.
Oasis Rocks !
These guys are such Rock Stars...
The brothers (especially their commentary on their contemporaries in the music business) are priceless....(calling Robbie Williams a Fat Dancer at the Brit Awards and Chris Martin of Coldplay a Plant Pot)
I'd tip a pint with them anyday. Beats the hell out of the pure Musical Crap coming out of the US Market...
Barbara-
They do seem to like their drink, don't they?
Erik-
He lamented the fact that he had trouble maintaining his hatred of them because they tortured him because they made, in his words, "such bloody good cameras..."
Grant-
Yeah, it's a good thing they actually are really good, are they'd be complete assholes-- not just assholes.
TenS-
They do seem to follow the great rock and roll tradition of brothers hating one another and fighting.
Beckeye-
They really don't seem to grasp how ridiculous they sound all the time, do they?
Skyler's Dad-
I've blogged before about the movie and the incredible performances of Peter Sellers. His interaction between Keenan Wynn as Major Bat Guano over having to answer to the Coca Cola company over vandalizing their vending machine to get coins in order to save the planet is classic!
Ananamidide-
Agreed!
Elk-
There's some good stuff coming out of the US-- Little Steven's Underground Garage has turned me onto some good stuff. Loved their comments on the Brit icons!
