Nice list!

Seeing that 10,000 Maniacs song reminds me of my wife's (intentional) misreading of its opening lyrics:

"Hey Jack Kerouac, get off my mother"

Wow, now that's some list! You got the perfect tension between wanting to rock out and break some stuff, and then trying to mellow out with Willie Nelson and Dusty Springfield.

I was just blasting the Cramps yesterday while I made dinner. I gots to go find some Iggy Pop now, it's time to wake up.

Hmmm, I haven't heard that Mescaleros song. Have you seen the doc Let's Rock Again about Joe Strummer's last tour? Ahhh, it's so good.

Splotchy-
Thanks!

That's pretty funny. And appropriate-- Kerouac had quite an appetite-- for both men and women.

Bubs-
My friend Jim was telling me that Dusty hated that song. it's one of my favorites of hers.

I went through a period in my twenties when "Lust For Life" was my wake-up song every day.

Kim-
That was funny!

Grant-
It might be my favorite album cover/album title combo ever.

Have you ever seen the Cramps video of them playing in a nuthouse in northern California in 1978? I'd seen the fifth generation video before, and now it's available on DVD (I own it, of course). It's called "The Cramps: Live at the Napa State Mental Hospital."

The stage was only like six inches high, so after a while, the patients started walking onto the stage. At one point, this woman starts declaring loudly "I got the cramps!" It's wonderful stuff.

TenS-
Candy Apple Grey is my favorite Husker Du album.

I mark the day in 1987 when they split as the official end of the first phase of punk.

Barbara-
I was not aware of that movie! I just Netflixed it and put it at the top of my queue. Thanks so much for letting me know about it!

Have you seen Westway to the World, the documentary Don Letts, a friend of the guys in the Clash did? It's marvelous.

Eva was telling me a bit about Westway to the World, but no I haven't seen it. Thanks for the tip!
