I was hoping that Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's "Ohio" would miraculously pop up on my Random 10-- it's about the Kent State Killings, which happened 37 years ago today, on May 4, 1970. It also would have added one more Canadian, Neil Young, to the mix.
If I can get my lesson plans done, and enough of my students have given themselves the day off today, I'll post about Kent State.

I need to expand my music library. If I did the ten random thing I would have the same artists come up over and over and the same songs . Santana, Stevie RAy Vaughn, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Bare Naked Ladies, and Roy Orbison. Thats about it.

I was reading excerpts from a blogger commenting about his random top ten where at first I thought he had written "I excluded that preposterous number of Edmund Fitzgerald..." I couldn't believe what I was reading, no way is that song preposterous but to my relief he was referring to Ella Fitzgerald not the the song, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I've always liked GL's voice.

I was a little startled by the Pat Booneage myself, but glad to see some countrymen on there nonetheless. This is how we are planning to take over your nation you know.

I love that one too! WXRT, a station her in Chicago, used to play that one back in the seventies, before they became a horrible corporate station.

It's from a gag album Boone did about ten years ago, where he covered a bunch of heavy metal songs by Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns n' Roses, etc. It's really pretty entertaining.
If that's how Canadians are going to take over, by giving us great music, I'll defect today.

Have you ever seen the Chris Elliot movie "Snow Day?" Iggy Pop plays a deranged deejay at a skating rink. The first time I ever saw it was on the hotel cable in Shanghai, China. Between the jet lag, the setting and the booze, it was a little mind-bending.
