Ten Songs I Wish I'd Written

I was checking email and my blogs with my itunes on random and a favorite song came up-- "Maybe Tomorrow," by Stereophonics, and it got me to thinking.

These are ten songs I wish I'd written, in no particular order.

1. Maybe Tomorrow- Stereophonics
2. Southern Girls- Cheap Trick
3. Refuge of the Roads- Joni Mitchell
4. Set Me Free Rosa Lee- Los Lobos
5. Interstate Love Song- Stone Temple Pilots
6. Dreams- The Allman Brothers Band
7. Tape From California- Phil Ochs
8. White Man in Hammersmith Palais- The Clash
9. Wedding Bell Blues- Laura Nyro
10. Moonlight Mile- The Rolling Stones

I'm sure if you polled me tomorrow, that list would change. It would probably include The The's "Love is Stronger Than Death," Bob Dylan's "Sara" and Rhett Miller's "Come Around."

What would be ten of yours?

Cool idea for a list. Just reading it made me think of what I wish I had written. I would have to do some serious whittling down to get it to ten!

My list of ten would probably be a majority of songs from the Cowboy Junkies. "Cause Cheap is How I Feel" is a personal favorite. So is "The Anniversary Song," and "Murder in a Trailer Park." More recently, you could hear their version of "Sweet Jane" playing in the background of a CSI promo.

Hey - The The can nudge the Stones out. "Love..." what a killer song. Thanks for reminding me of it....

Oooh! Great idea for a list! I can't think of anything at the moment...I'll think on it for a while and come back after my dose of codene laced cough syrup wears off. Yeah, I'm sick.

I think for me it would depend on whether I was wishing I had written the lyrics or the music. But seeing as I can't even read music, I may have to stick to the lyrics. I shall be back with my list!
Great idea for provoking thought...
