Wait, I've Heard This One Before...

I was reading about the Bush Administration Scandal du jour (Wolfowitz) and thinking about how much sillier Attorney General Alberto Gonazales and the rest of the administration sound every day as they come up with more and more excuses, each one lamer than the last-- missing emails is the latest (Holy Rosemary Woods, Batman!).

It occurred to me I've heard this sad litany before. Unfortunately I couldn't find the appropriate clip among the Blues Brothers snippets on Youtube, so this'll have to do.

"I ran out of gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! It wasn't my fault, I swear to god!"

Now Gonzales is admitting to being "less than precise". I'm enjoying seeing he and Wolf squirm though.

Looks like a couple of good shows in the post below. I plan on seeing Iggy at Lolla this summer.

My fun this weekend was a triple birthday kegger at a local bar. And once again, I avoided the kegstands.

You completely missed "the sun was in my eyes"!

Dick Cheney doesn't have to make excuses, he doesn't have to lie, he works behind the scenes, he is the puppet master.

Nice post. Have you seen the recent Bill Maher piece on "elitism"? This reminds me of that.

Busterp-
Yeah, he's squirming, and BushCo is going to let him twist in the wind. He's expendable to them.

You've shown the wisdom that age has conferred upon you by avoiding those kegstands. Now let's work on those beer bongs, shall we?

Grant-
This is almost getting fun, watching this.

Skyler's Dad-
And "My dog ate the emails."

JR-
I've said the exact same thing.

My theory of why he doesn't openly rule is that he's unable to come out in the sunlight-- he'd crumble to dust otherwise.

Bubs-
Thanks. I haven't seen the Maher piece. Is it on Youtube?

I saw a great bumper sticker the other day "01.20.09... Bush's last day in office"
