With Friends Like Joe...

I'm beginning to feel nearly as bad for my vote in the 2000 election as people who voted for Nader.

Oh, I'm okay with my vote for Al Gore-- I'd vote for him in 2008 if he ran. Unfortunately, in the 2000 election, my vote for Gore came as a package with Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman as vice-presidential candidate.

Lieberman has acted more and more like a Republican since 2000. Lieberman was Bush's main Democratic pimp for the Iraq war. As a result, the Democratic voters of Connecticut had the good sense to defeat him in the 2006 primary. He ran as an independent and won the general election, no doubt with the help of Republican votes.

Now Joe is advocating U.S. military raids into Iran "to stop them from killing Americans in Iraq."

Does he forget that it was the United States that invaded Iraq in the first place? Does he forget that our soldiers wouldn't have been in harm's way in the first place if he hadn't facilitated BushCo's headlong rush into this disasterous war?

I can barely forgive Democratic Senators and House members for falling for the poorly-fudged data and voting to okay the war. I absolutely cannot forgive someone who not only continues to back the Iraq war, but advocates escalating it.

Thanks to Shakesville for the heads-up on that one.

Looks as though there was a mole in the Democrats.

It's astounding how he conveniently forgets little details like the fact that the US invaded Iraq. People with such short memories shouldn't be allowed to hold public office.

Like John Stewart said, Lieberman was the perfect candidate if you liked George Bush but just felt that he wasn't quite Jewish enough.

It's the fact that they think the public has such short memories that bugs me the most!

Um, the people I met in Connecticut (Democrats or Republicans) didn't have good sense at all. Maybe it was voting machine glitches going the right way that time. I dunno.

Lieberman is horrible. A Republican in the Democrats' ranks. Can't stand him.

I think Lieberman misrepresented himself to his constituents, like for instance promising to investigate the response to Katrina as well as the reconstruction, then refusing to do so once re-elected. It would've hurt his new best friends.
