Adopt Another Character Actor

I've been noticing that some bloggers are adopting a second character actor under Splotchy's "Adopt a Character Actor" program. Since the renovations at Casa de Yen are moving along, I decided that we have room for another needy character actor.

I decided that it was time for a little diversity. I considered a number of excellent choices: Yaphet Kotto, Danny Trejo, Rachel Tincontin, Luis Guzman and Rosalind Chao nearly made the final cut. But in the end, I decided to go with...

B.D. Wong.

Wong is an actor who is unique: he has no problem playing a specifically ethnic character, but is able to branch out into roles that are not specifically ethnic in very different genres: his recurring role as psychiatrist Dr. George Huang on the police drama series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit; as a special forces soldier in the thriller Executive Decision; as the marriage counselor in the comedy The Ref.

Born in San Francisco on October 24, 1960, Wong is openly gay. He combines his prolific television and screen work with frequent work in theater. Welcome to the Adopt a Character Actor Program, Mr. Wong!

He plays a priest in Oz too. I like him.

Oh, speaking of actors playing psychiatrists on Law and Order: J.K. Simmons also rocks. I think he also had a recurring role on Oz.

i've also heard that he OWNED the role in M. Butterfly (i think he did it on broadway - not the film version).

I love B.D. Wong. He was excellent on "Oz" (one of my top five shows of all time), and was great as far back as "And the Band Played On." Excellent adoption, Yen!

I'm thinking of adopting Nick Nolte (hey, he no longer has star power) as soon as I hide the booze.

He is just awesome. To echo many others, I LOVED him on Oz. That was easily the best prison show of all time and supplied SVU with a most of their cast. A few ended up on CI as well.
