Thank Ya Ma'am!

Favorite blogger Dale posted a couple of days ago about a train conductor who not only made fun of a dead person but was doing a bad Elvis impersonation. Repeatedly.

Everyone knows that I am the only one allowed to make fun of dead people.

And besides, the conductor can't hold a candle to my son Adam's Elvis impression.

That's my father with him.

For some reason I am reminded of a short story titled "Black Elvis" which I believe came from the Missouri Review. Very funny story. The main character felt he was the best Elvis impersonator, until he met his match in a Chinese impersonator. Or was it Japanese?

JR-
I blogged some time ago about getting rescued by an Elvis impersonator. In the course of our conversation with him, he told us that he'd taken third place in the state-wide Elvis championships, and expressed incredulity that one of the people who'd beaten him was a turban-wearing Sikh.

Barbara-
There's an old joke here where you ask if they have a Fourth of July in England (the person answers no, of course, since the holiday was about our independence from England).

So, are you jealous that Canada doesn't have a Fourth of July?

Skyler's Dad-
This was the picture my dad had on his desk for some time before he retired. It's still one of his favorites. I think Adam was about four at the time.

What's really funny was that at the time, Adam's favorite song, by far, was Elvis' "Kentucky Rain."

I was worried Elvis lovers would beat me with my own arm for being such a prick Johnny so I'm just glad to have survived the ordeal (so far). I have no problem with your son's Elvis impression. Once or twice.
